Photography, for me, is a spiritual practice. To really see what is before one’s eyes requires discipline. The photographer must overcome his own habitual ways of looking, naming, and conceptualizing, and transcend the daily bombardment of images the culture presents to us, which inevitably affect how we understand visual imagery and what is considered a “good” photograph. For the photographer who can be fully present in the moment, the world opens to reveal its mystery and beauty. The goal of my work is to enter that mystery and beauty, and bring the viewer along with me. |
